National Regulatory Control Council

Ex-Post Reduction of Bureaucracy

In cooperation with the Federal Government, the Federal Statistical Office, interested Federal States and municipalities, the NKR has reviewed existing administrative procedures in order to make them simpler and faster. In coordination with the Federal Government, the Federal States and the competent enforcement bodies, the NKR has conducted cross-level projects under the theme “Facilitating the Application for...”. Examples include the application process for parental benefits, housing subsidy, student funding under the Federal Education and Training Assistance Act (BAföG), the work and residence permit for foreign specialised personnel, and the reduction of bureaucracy in the everyday life of physicians and dentists.

The dialogue regarding the implementation of federal law across federal, regional and municipal levels has proven to be beneficial for all project stakeholders. The reports on the findings show that such projects can serve to develop concrete proposals which noticeably reduce existing burdens for the parties affected. Therefore, the NKR will continue to pursue such projects.
